To be fast you need a potent engine. To keep ahead you need an engine that is smart when it comes to energy use. The TFSI® and TDI® engines for the Audi A3 deliver both: outstanding performance along with the lowest possible fuel consumption.
TFSI®: efficient and sporty
The performance spectrum of the three TFSI® engines ranges from 92 kW (125 bhp) in the Audi A3 1.4 TFSI to 147 kW (200 bhp) in the Audi A3 2.0 TFSI quattro. The 1.4 TFSI® unit with a start-stop system as standard replaces engine capacity with a turbocharger. From a displacement of only 1,390 cc it produces 200 Nm of torque. Combined fuel consumption: only 5.6* l/100 km. The 2.0 TFSI® engine has motorsport in its DNA: 147 kW (200 bhp) at a maximum torque of 280 Nm between 1,700 and 5,000 rpm. As a result, the Audi A3 2.0 TFSI quattro accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds.
Consumption figures and emission values for the A3:
Fuel consumption, combined: 5.6-7.5 l/100 km
CO2 emissions, combined: 133-174 g/km

TDI®: efficient and powerful
The performance spectrum of the diesel engines ranges from 66 kW (90 bhp) in the 1.6 TDI® to 125 kW (170 bhp) in the 2.0 TDI®. The champion in terms of fuel efficiency is the 1.9 TDI® e with an output of 77 kW (105 bhp) and combined fuel consumption of only 4.5 litres per 100 km. The 1.6 TDI® engine featuring intelligent common rail technology boasts the lowest emission values of the series: 118 g/km.
Consumption figures and emission values:
Fuel consumption, combined: 4.5-5.6 l/100 km
CO2 emissions, combined: 118-148 g/km
