Aquino boasts of business gains from Brunei trip
MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III has boasted of business opportunities generated by his official state visit to Brunei.
He returned to the Philippines on Thursday afternoon, with his chartered flight arriving at the Villamor Air Base at 5 p.m.
Aquino, in his arrival statement, said his 2-day visit to the oil-rich kingdom was successful.
The President said he encouraged Bruneian businessmen to invest in the Philippines.
He said new investments will create more jobs for Filipinos.
Aquino added that he also urged Brunei to help the Philippines develop its oil industry's technology and know-how.
Brunei businessmen also showed interest in the Philippines' agricultural products, as well as the nation's quarrying industry.
Aquino said Filipino businessmen should look at entering Brunei's halal food industry.
During his stay in the kingdom, the President signed several agreements related to the shipping, sports, tourism, food security, and agricultural sectors. - Report from Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
